Amazing Step by Step Project by Michelle

Hi Bev here just posting on behalf of Michelle. The team at Scotties are mostly at SENZ this weekend teaching and running the stand and Michelle decided to join in the fun on the blog and created a gorgeous step by step project for you. Michelle will take over the blog post now.

I’ve never taught a class before, never even gave it any thought but the girls are doing their SENZ thing, so from afar, I thought I would be a little creative for you as well.

This is what I’ve done ...

1 round piece of corrugated cardboard which I’ve gently pulled aside the top layers in various places.  I’ve then inked with Tim Holtz Dusty Concord ink.

I’ve lightly applied Reeves Coarse texture gel in places and  sprinkled on diamond dust on the top before it dried.

Put it aside.

I’ve cut 4 strips of paper – 1 ¼ inches wide from the Websters Ladies & Gents – Your Life Beautiful paper and punched with a doily punch and roughly hand pleated them.

Grab your double sided tape and run it around the back of the corrugated cardboard, remove tape backing and adhere your pleated strips of paper.

You’ve now got something that resembles the above photo.

Cut a another piece of the Websters paper and as you can see I changed my mind on the size that I wanted and added another strip.  Don’t think of it as a mistake as such, it’s all part of the creative process.  I wet the edges of my paper and lightly curled the edge and while still a little damp I inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink, this time in peeled paint.

I’ve adhered my photo to the paper and used adhesive to attach the paper to the corrugated cardboard.

I’ve ripped a piece of pale lavender soft muslin [available from Spotlight], twisted and scrunched it a little and using my hot glue gun have glued the fabric to my layout and then I’ve found a few baubles and glued them to the fabric.

Now it’s time to really let loose with whatever you want to use to embellish your layout.

I’ve used a variety of Prima flowers that Scottie Crafts has in the shop – a mixture of Prima and Ada flowers.  I’ve also used a mixture of Zva Creative leaves and Prima leaves, Prima Say It in Crystals, Prima adhesive alphas, punched out a few butterflies, a couple of tags, inked around the edges with the Dusty Conchord ink and voila.

I then decided to run the Peeled Paint ink around the edge of my pleated paper ... I wasn’t going to ... but I just ‘had to’.

Just like that., one layout, done and dusted.

One thing I did notice though, the alphas didn’t adhere overly well on top of the texture gel and diamond dust, so I needed to use my hot glue gun ... being creative is just that ... being creative.

Let me know what you think.
