A Vintage Box by Sue Butler

Hello friends
This little box started out as boring paper mache and it was demanding to be decorated and I answered the call willingly, I had great fun as an 'off the page' project as it is something I do not often venture into.

First step, to make my substrate, I applied Gesso, let dry then painted on a mix of Acrylics and Metallics.

My Tim Holtz plate has been painted and crackle accents applied to obtain a rusty look.

To keep within my Vintage theme I ripped the paper and inked up the edges to finish the top of the Box.

Next step ; multiple dry embossing of the Kaisercraft Needle&Thread patterned paper.
If you are lucky enough to have an e-bosser machine, use it for this technique, as it does not flatten out the previous emboss pattern you have made.

I had a great time decorating the dress form using lace, bling and rolled up pieces of the Kaisercraft paper, lace and paints.

Stitching, Hessian and a mix of embellishments to keep the sewing theme going for the inside of the Lid.

The Vintage Box.
I painted the whole box in a gloss Varnish.
