Sassafrass Inspiration - Sarah Groen

I received a selection of the gorgeous Sassafrass papers and the new Tim Holtz mini-rosette die for my DT projects this month. These papers are bright and cheerful - just the thing to brighted up these miserable, wet Autumn days!

For my first LO (above) I used photos from our family Easter egg hunt. The colours were perfect for an easter theme. I used a craft knife to cut around part of the pattern on the base paper so that I could slip my layers underneath parts of the design that I did not want to cover up. The brown flocked flowers (prima rub-ons) add a little extra dimension to the LO. The mini rosette flower and the picket fence (also a Tim Holtz die) add to the little garden scene that I created. I used 2x3" photos because I wanted to add a lot of journalling to this page and also to include photos of all who participated in the hunt! The sun and white cloud stickers are part of the Echo Park 'Summer' range. (all items available at Scottie Crafts).

I have had this photo of my two girls in my 'to scrap' box for over two years. I just love the way Sophie is gazing at her big sister! I cut up the Sassafrass papers to make a collaged background on the black cardstock. The cluster of elements on the right bottom corner of the photo is just one sheet of Sassafrass paper. The cluster is part of the design on the paper, but gives the impression that I have hand-layered all the elements individually! Love that!! I cut the large doily using a Cheery Lynn die. These are available at Scottie Crafts and there are many different doily designs to choose from. They cut perfectly with the cuttlebug and the detail is breathtaking! I handmade the flower using a heart punch for the petals. I embossed the dress pattern paper tucked behind the photo using the new Tim Holtz 'Alterations' embossing envelope.

I made this final LO using scraps left over from my Sassafrass paper. The page is roughly based on this weeks sketch from the challenge blog Sketchy Thursdays. I cut the wings for the chipboard heart using a Tim Holtz die. I sprayed the background paper with Studio Calico colour mist (I LOVE this product it gives fantastic coverage and brilliant colour). It is fun to cut up left-over scraps to make a patchwork effect then add lots of little embellishments to each square. This is a great way to use up all those little odds and ends that are sitting around waiting for a home :) I spritzed the background cardstock with Studio Calico mist and inked the edges liberally.

Thanks for looking at my pages - happy scrapping!!
