For my design team layouts this month I received the absolutely stunning
'Nutcracker Sweet' papers from Graphic 45. These are a Christmas themes
collection but as both my girls are dancers I used the papers to do pages about
dance.
For my first page I
chose one of my favourite photos of Sophie with her grade 1 ballet class (she is the second from the right with her arms in the air !!). I used
a full sheet of Nutcracker paper for my background and I sprayed over it using
masks and a doily to create an interesting pattern. I layered various assorted
pieces of paper under the photo along with the doily that I had used as a mask
when inking the background. I machine sewed messy circles around my page's focal
point before adding some Prima flowers and bling to embellish the layout. I
finished with a 'Thickers' title and some fussy cut ballerinas. Oh, and of course
there are a few strips of Washi tape along the edges (I don't seem to be able to
design without washi tape right now :)
My second page is quite
different. I recently sat in on a one on one class that my elder daughter
Natalie had with her teacher before her Advanced 1 jazz exam. I took heaps of
photos of her dancing and I loved so many that I wanted to include lots on my
page. Grid designs always work well for scrapping a group of photos of similar
sizes. Here I printed out my photos at 2x3"'s.
I used my favourite paper from this collection to frame the LO (first gutting it so that I could save the rest of the design for another project). I then layered several more papers beneath the grid of photos - distressing and inking all my edges. I fussy cut some tags and cards and tucked them beneath the edges of my photos. The flowers and bling are all 'Prima' and so are the cute canvass butterflies (which I coloured using Tim Holtz distress inks). The date and journaling tags are from one of my October Afternoon collections - I think 'Woodland Park' and the title letters are a mix of 'Prima', 'Kaisercraft' and AC 'Thickers'. I added some machine stitching and of course those strips of washi tape to complete the page.
Almost all of the items for both these pages are available at Scottie Crafts - along with a whole lot more for you to drool over!
