Moments Wall Art by Wendy

Moments Wall Art ......  by Wendy

I have been playing with the new Kaiser Craft Collection called Lady Rose to create this 12 by 12 wall canvas.  A bit of background... the photo I have used is of my daughter when she was 21 wearing a costume that I made for her to model in a fashion show when she was 10. The costume won first prize.

Apply Liquitex texture paste through a stencil to the 12 by 12 canvas.

I left  a blank area to add the photo and title.

I fussy cut the Kaiser Craft  Lady Rose paper Violette.

I created a  easycast resin frame and bird using a moulds I made with pinkysil.

I painted the resin pieces with Claudine Hellmuth Gesso.  This will allow me to colour the resin pieces with Tim Holtz distress ink

When my texture paste was dry I painted the entire surface with Claudine Hellmuth Gesso.

I coloured up some little roses with Distress Marker tattered rose so that they would match the colours in my project.

I created some flower vines using flowers from my stash... you can see the full post here ...
Making flower Vines by Wendy

Here are two finished vines for the bottom left decorations. I used the extra flowers for the top right section.

I added  gesso to the photo to get rid of bits that didnt fit the theme and also help it to blend to the background.

I then added texture paste through the stencil to reflect the background on the canvas.

While that was drying I coloured the resin frame by applying distress ink re-inker directly to the surface. I moved it around with a paint brush.

I blotted the frame with a rag then let it dry.

I made my own little stamp pad to apply the ink to the brick surface by using some Cut n Dry felt and Distress re inker Tattered Rose

I used the home made stamp pad to swipe colour over the rough surface of texture paste. I didn't want to use my Distress ink stamp pad to do this because the is a very rough surface and it would rip the surface of my stamp pad.

I  coloured my resin bird also with distress ink this time I used Walnut Stain.

Painted all over then rubbed back with a rag and let dry.

I cut one of the collectables sentiments with a spellbinders die to put behind my resin frame.

I coloured the edges with forest moss distress ink.

I cut the Maya arts leaf trim and added leaves to my vine.

I used the Kaiser Lady Rose Rub on sentiment to my canvas

Now I started to glue all the elements on working from the bottom elements forward.

Here I am glueing the flower vines on. I also used some to the collectables elements, the space between the two vines was where I placed the Prima Gemini Fabric Parlor flower, which was an absolute perfect flower for this paper.

And here it is with all the bits added. Finally I added more gesso to the grey area around the photo as I wasn't quite satisfied with the look. Then I was done. Check back soon for my next post with this gorgeous paper.

  3. Hi Wendy, what a stunner! fantastic tutorial too, its great to see all of the steps coming together.
I really love the roses you colored with the TH marker and the vines you made are to die for! also what a great way to add color to texture paste without ruining a pad or coloring the whole lot with reinker - very clever!
