Hi Scottie Crafts fans, today I am going to share a layout that I made using the Kaisercraft 'Garage Days' collection. This collection is perfect for those of us needing 'male' themed papers. They are intended for the 'dads' out there, but they are also perfect for cute 'little boys' projects, grungy 'teen boys' pages and even 'grandpa/grandson' family themes.
The photos that I chose to scrap were taken last year on our family trip to Disneyland. Benji was three at the time and an avid 'Cars' fan. When he saw the themed 'Cars world' at California Adventureland he was beside himself with excitment. The 'Mater truck' ride was his absolute favourite.
I sprayed my background paper with blue dylusions spray ink through a 'Prima' stencil (both available at Scottie crafts), before randomly splattering some blue and navy ink over the page. I used several background stamps to add detail around my photos and borders. Using the unmounted stamp to hand-stamp without an acrylic block allows for very undefined edges that 'blend' in well with the other background elements.
To make up my photo mats and clusters I simply layered several patterned papers (including some from the 6x6 pad) and embellished them with tags, die-cuts and journaling cards taken directly from the 'collections' pack. I love how many of the manufacturers are releasing these miscellany bags along with their patterned paper collections. It makes it very simple to find the perfect, co-ordinating embellishment for your needs.
The wooden gears are also from Kaisercraft and are sold in packs. They are perfect to add a little dimension to 'boy' themed pages like this one. I painted mine with 'rusty hinge' distress paint and inked the edges with walnut distress ink.
Finally I added my title using the letter stickers that are part of the 'Garage Days' collection and handwrote my journaling to complete my page.
Thanks for visiting the Scottie craft blog today. Hope that I have managed to inspire you a little :)
