Martha Stewart around the page Butterfly punch

My main item in my kit was a Martha Stewart punch all over the page Butterfly punch along with some summer Echo Park papers which I chose as I don't normally do brights and gave myself a little challenge with my first page - though I did chose the pinks!

My first page I used lots of punches including the butterfly punch, framed dots punch, small butterflypunch and a double scallop punch. Along the double scallop punch I have added liquid pearls.  The papers used are Echo Park summer.  I have punched the butterflies out of white cardstock and used the piece of cardstock as well as the punched out butterflies.

With the next layout I created a mask with the Butterfly punch and acetate and using colour washes (purple twighlight and lettuce) and Kraft cardstock created my background.  I also used the acetate butterflis on the layout. The papers used are Donna Salazar papers. Flowers by Prima.

With my last layout I used the mask as a stamp with the colour washes to create my background. The binding ribbon has also been coloured with the colour washes. I have used Echo park Summer paper and stickers again.

Thanks for looking

DT projects - Lianne Gray

I started with this gorgeous Prima screenprinted canvas by Donna Downey and this Scrapware set, I can't find the name of it but am thinking it is this Happy days set. I wanted to do a fantasy type scene using the whole set. The words say 'Imagine a world of watercolour painted skies, colourful birds, giant suns and butterflies, and a keyhole to the next beautiful world'. I had so much fun with this. The canvas is lovely to sew. I cuttlebugged most of the Scrapware with various embossing folders, and painted them with acrylic paint. Added some eyelets to the top of the canvas to hang with some dyed seam binding. Read on for instructions.

Next I had some cool Echo Park papers and stickers to create this LO with. The background is splattered with Adirondack Colour Wash.

When I saw this Echo Park Dots and Stripes paper I fell in love. Especially because it is red. How cute is it. The flower is made using Prima Mistables Canvas sheet of flowers. First of all I machine stitched 'veins' on them to give them some texture and coloured them with Adirondack colour wash. Make sure you spray with water first (thanks Wendy for that tip). Another favourite of mine at the moment is seam binding. Scotties sell it by the metre. Here I've again wet it and sprayed with the same colours I used on the canvas flower and wrapped it around my photo. I love the tie dyed effect it gives.

Lastly, on this LO I've used this Sassafras Lass paper and this Scrapware Abstract Tree. I painted the tree first with acrylic paint then painted a layer of Tim Holtz Crackle Paint over the trunk and added some Prima flowers. A bit of messy stitching. The alphas are Studio Calico.

Excuse the photographing of these LO's. The first 2 have caught the light on the left side of the photos and they are at the shop so I can't rephoto. And I feel the next 2 may be a little dark. Oh well. You get the idea. Hope I've inspired you in some way.

More Simple Stories with Annelie

So, I've made a simple mini-album using the Simple Stories "Life Documented" papers and stickers. I have also played with a few Scrapware chipboard decorations. Love them!

My big girl is turning five in September, so I decided to do an album about her year as a four year old. I still have to do July and August, but the rest is done!

The base for my album is an old Maya Road album that I have had in my stash since I started scrapping in 2006! I'm happy I finally got some use for it! I just painted the chipboard with pink acrylic paint, then added paper on top of that.

I've used brown ink on the edges of the papers, to match the "shabby" feel of this range.

I've added a few buttons and some twine here and there.

I've tried to use everyday photos that tells the story of a four year olds everyday life.

I've tried to incorporate a little bit of journaling on each page.

I used the stickers and chipboard as my main embellishments on most pages, it gets bulky enough with that!

I really enjoyed working with this range, and can't wait to finish it and share it with my FIVE YEAR OLD!!

Hope this has inspired you to scrap about the everyday things.

August challenge

Here is Augusts Challenge.
Link your layout/creation to Mr Linky in the sidebar by midnight the 15th of September 2011.

Lets start with colour. Check out this site and pick a colour palette to create your LO from. It doesn't have to be the exact colours, that would be too hard, close enough is ok.

Next pick a designer that inspires you. You could chose someone from my blog. Look under 'So Inspired By' in my sidebar. Find someones style that inspires you from there or you may already have someone elses style you love in mind. I love Jennifer Johners style. I find it quite unique and relaxed. I love her photo placement and use of random elements around the page.

So here is the colour palette I chose.

And here is my LO. Obviously depending on the light when photographing your LO, the colours could look different, but you get the general idea of the colours used.

If you find this too easy and want an extra challenge, try using all patterned papers, except for the matting of your photo. And/or you could try using paint on your LO. You could also try a mix of lower and upper case letters in your title.

But the main part of this challenge is to pick a colour scheme and a designer to inspire your LO.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing your creations.

Lianne.

Another sneak post in between the CHA favourites - MME creation

Just sneaking in a little post today again! Last post I told you I bought some My Minds Eye Papers and other goodies well I created this afternoon while watching HOP with the kids. Here is the layout that I created using the Lost and Found Christmas range and the Tim Holtz Rosette dies. The banner is a combination of the chipboard elements and the brads in the collection. I have used twine to tie it all together. The layout came together quickly - always an advantage when you have matching papers and embellishments.

This will be on display in the shop when I go in again.
Be back later with another favourite!!
